We want to be very clear: Help4Homeless is not a mental health service. Our volunteers are not trained mental health professionals, and we cannot provide mental health treatment, counseling, or crisis intervention.

However, we care about you and want to help you connect with professional mental health services that can provide the support you need and deserve.

While You're Waiting for Professional Help

🌱 Basic Self-Care

  • • Try to get some fresh air if possible
  • • Rest when you can, even if sleep is difficult

  • • Calm or Headspace for meditation

📝 Grounding Techniques

  • • 5-4-3-2-1 grounding (name 5 things you see, 4 you feel, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, 1 you taste)
  • • Focus on your breathing - count breaths in and out
  • • Hold something cold or warm and focus on the sensation
