Help4Homeless was founded in 2025 by Tom Chalmers, then 17, with a simple belief: everyone deserves dignity and warmth.
Help4Homeless is a community organisation based in Peterborough, UK, dedicated to supporting people experiencing homelessness. We provide wellbeing packs containing 10 essential items — from hygiene products to warm socks — to those who need them most.
Founded in 2025 by Tom Chalmers at the age of 17, we are proof that young people can create meaningful change in their communities. Our team of young volunteers works tirelessly to assemble and distribute packs across the city.
We believe in transparency, community, and the power of small actions to create big impact. Approximately £5 donation funds one Winter Wellbeing Pack, and every pack is distributed directly to someone in need.
Our values guide every decision we make, from how we source items to how we engage with our community.
Every person deserves to be treated with respect and compassion. Our packs are assembled with care, not just thrown together — because dignity matters.
We are open about how every pound is spent. 100% of donations go directly to purchasing materials for wellbeing packs. No hidden costs, no waste.
We believe in the power of local action. By working together, we can create lasting change for people experiencing homelessness in Peterborough.
We prove that young people can lead meaningful change. Our team of young volunteers builds leadership skills while making a real difference.
Every action we take is measured by its impact on the people we serve. We focus on what works and continuously improve our approach.
At the heart of everything we do is genuine care for people. We listen, we learn, and we act with empathy in every interaction.
From a simple idea to a growing community organisation — here's how Help4Homeless came to be.
Tom Chalmers, then 17, noticed people in Peterborough sleeping rough without basic essentials. He decided to do something about it.
With a small group of friends, Tom founded Help4Homeless. The mission: provide wellbeing packs to people experiencing homelessness in Peterborough.
The first wellbeing packs were assembled and distributed across Peterborough. The response from the community was overwhelming.
More young people joined the cause, forming a dedicated team of volunteers. The organisation expanded its reach and impact across the city.
We are working towards formal charity registration to expand our impact, secure grant funding, and build lasting partnerships.
