MASSIVE MILESTONE: 6 People Helped at Our First Ever Event!
A historic day for Help4Homeless as we attend our first event and distribute 6 essential wellbeing packs to people experiencing homelessness in Peterborough.
Today marked a massive milestone for Help4Homeless. Our founder attended the Food & Drink Festival at Peterborough United football club - our very first event as an organization. While footfall was lower than expected, we were incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have a stand and share our mission with the community. This wasn't just about attendance numbers; it was about taking that crucial first step from idea to action, from concept to real-world impact.
Community Support Made This Possible
None of this would have happened without incredible community support. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Carolyn Acton Events for not just giving us permission to attend, but for providing us with a stand, lending us a table, and believing in a youth-led charity trying to make a difference. Their support transformed our first event from a dream into reality. Please visit carolynactonevents.co.uk to show them some love.
While all vendors took our posters, we want to give special recognition to:
- A1 Fresh Food Peterborough - Went above and beyond with incredible support for our mission
- Pinni's Desi Dhaba Indian Street Food - Showed amazing generosity and belief in our cause
- One additional vendor (name pending confirmation) - Your support means everything to us!
This Is Why We Do It: 6 Lives Touched
After the event, we did what matters most - we took to the streets and distributed 6 essential wellbeing packs to homeless people in Peterborough. This wasn't just about handing out supplies; it was about human connection. We sat with them, listened to their stories, shared conversations, and showed them they haven't been forgotten by their community. Each pack represented hope, dignity, and the knowledge that someone cares.
We're taking a revolutionary approach - we've asked several people to write down exactly what they need. No more guessing what items are most valuable from our perspective. We'll collect these lists and amend our packs based on real-time needs from the people we're actually helping. This isn't charity; it's partnership.
"The council is letting them down. All these homeless schemes the council claims to have, yet none of the people we met today are getting help. This makes me angry, and I am looking for ways to pursue this fight for real change."
The Power of Teamwork: Making Every Pound Count
Thanks to our newest and first local volunteer Caravel Jarvis, we managed to stretch £40 into 6 packs instead of 4. Her dedication to finding cost-effective solutions is incredible - she spent hours researching, comparing prices, and finding ways to maximize every single donation. But Caravel's impact goes beyond numbers. She tagged along for the event, stood beside me at the stand, and gave me the confidence to speak up and share our mission with strangers. Sometimes the biggest challenge isn't finding resources - it's finding the courage to use them. Thank you, Caravel - you're not just making a massive difference; you're proving that community change happens when people show up for each other.
Ready for What's Next: We Want to Attend YOUR Events!
We are always happy to come to events - we genuinely want to be there! We don't have any equipment, so lending something would be amazing, but more importantly, we want to connect with more people who care about Peterborough. Please invite us to your events, we'd be more than happy to attend, share our mission, and show how community support translates into real help for real people.
This is a massive milestone, but it's just the beginning. WAY more to come. We are just getting started. 6 people got our essential wellbeing packs today thanks to the incredible vendors who believed in us. Every pack makes a real difference. Every conversation matters. Every single person deserves dignity and hope.
