How Help4Homeless is funded - your donations, grants, and financial transparency
Help4Homeless is funded entirely through community donations, fundraising, and small grants. As a grassroots organisation started by a 17-year-old, we rely on the generosity of local people, businesses, and organisations to fund our work.
We're committed to financial transparency and ensuring that maximum funds go directly to helping people experiencing homelessness in Peterborough. Every donation makes a real difference to someone's life.
Our funding comes from multiple sources: individual donations from the community, local business sponsorships, fundraising events, community group collections, and occasional small grants. We're actively working to diversify our funding sources to ensure long-term sustainability.
As a volunteer-run organisation, we have minimal overhead costs. Approximately 95-98% of all donations go directly to purchasing items for wellbeing packs and supporting people experiencing homelessness. We keep administrative costs extremely low by using donated space and volunteer time.
We're currently in the process of registering as a charity. At the moment, we operate as a community initiative. This means we can't offer Gift Aid on donations yet, but we're working towards charity status to enhance our funding capabilities and donor benefits.
Funds are spent on: purchasing items for wellbeing packs (socks, toiletries, food, hand warmers), operational costs (storage, transport), fundraising expenses, and minimal administrative costs. We provide detailed breakdowns of spending in our annual reports.
Yes! We welcome corporate sponsorship and partnerships. Businesses can sponsor specific items, provide regular funding, offer in-kind support, or sponsor fundraising events. We offer recognition and publicity for our business partners and welcome discussions about tailored partnerships.
Currently, we don't receive regular government funding. We operate independently through community support. We may apply for specific council grants or government funding for particular projects, but our core funding comes from the community.
You can set up regular donations through our website or by contacting us directly. Regular monthly donations help us plan ahead and ensure consistent support for people experiencing homelessness. Even small regular amounts make a huge difference.
We maintain detailed financial records and are committed to transparency. While we're not yet a registered charity, we follow charity best practices for financial management. We publish annual reports showing income, expenditure, and impact. Our finances are overseen by our founder and volunteer team.
Absolutely! We love community fundraising. Whether it's a bake sale, sponsored run, or collection at work/school, we provide support and materials to help you fundraise successfully. We can help set up fundraising pages, provide collection buckets, and promote your efforts.
Yes, we accept both monetary and in-kind donations. Items like new socks, toiletries, non-perishable food, and other essentials are always welcome. We can sometimes accept larger items or services that help our operations. Contact us to discuss specific in-kind donations.
We bulk buy items when possible, seek discounts from suppliers, and accept donated goods to maximise value. Our volunteers help keep costs low, and we regularly review our spending to ensure maximum impact. We compare prices and seek the best deals for all purchases.
We're working towards: securing regular monthly donations from supporters, establishing corporate partnerships, applying for larger grants, achieving charity status for Gift Aid, and creating sustainable funding streams to expand our services and help more people.
